Inspired by the Little Gidding community established by Nicholas Ferrar in 1626, Percy and Gaynor Smith bought Pilsdon Manor in 1958 in order to offer a place of hospitality and safety for individuals in crisis. Members and volunteers have worked ever since to help create a place of shelter suitable for people, from all walks of life, in need of respite or a roof over their heads. Pilsdon is a place where people find restoration through the rhythm of work, recreation and prayer; something unchanged throughout its 60 year history.
When did you first hear of this community? How did you come to visit or stay at Pilsdon? And how much do you know about its beginnings?
